Electric scooter company, NIU have announced their official partnership with British Triathlon, the governing body for swim, bike, run in Great Britain.

NIU UK scooters were used at the AJ Bell 2022 World Triathlon Championship Series in Leeds – one of the organisation’s flagship events. It became the first event to be awarded the gold standard of World Triathlon’s Sustainability Certificate. The organisation believe that the sport should reflect the lifestyle values of its athletes and work to reduce the environmental impact of UK sporting events.

With electric scooters on hand at events the British Triathlon Team can provide rapid support across event locations using the versatility of a scooter to get anywhere on the course.

Drew Irvine, Brand Manager, NIU UK, said: “We’re really excited to become part of one of the UK’s fastest growing and most accessible sports.

“Being able to offer the opportunity to support the athletes and the event staff who bring together the triathlon community is something which NIU UK takes great pride in being part of.

“Triathlon is a sport which empowers environmentally conscious lifestyles, so reducing the environmental impact that the support vehicles create is key to NIU UK’s and British Triathlon’s mission to create long-term sustainability in the sporting events space.”
Andy Salmon, British Triathlon CEO, said: “As the national governing body, we have a crucial role in modelling sustainability in swim, bike, run, and partnerships like this one are key to that.
