If you’ve got a few spare Euros tucked under your mattress and want to buy a piece of scootering history this beauty could be yours at auction on the 18th of October.
Two specially prepared Vespa PX 150s which competed (and finished) in the very challenging International Cross Country Rally of the Pharaohs back in 2011 and the TransAnatolia Rally are to be auctioned off next week in an Italian auction held by Aste Bolaffi.
Sponsored by Playboy and many private Italian companies, the scooters were the first to finish an international rally since 1980 when a Vespa took part in the Paris Dakar. This pair of scooters were designed, prepared and ridden by Andrea Revel-Nutini, together with Marcello Dibrogni. Number 18 finished the Rally of the Pharoahs and features a 200cc Pinasco engine and many modifications to the frame to enable it to survive the harsh conditions. It has a guide price of €25,000-50,000!
Number 19 was ridden in the TransAnatolia Rally, a six-day event in the mountains of Turkey. It won the ‘Scooter’ special prize for finishing the race. This scooter features a 220cc Pinasco engine and many one-off parts. This one is also expected to reach up to €50,000 and has a starting bid of €22,000.
The auction also contains quite a few other scooters, including Lambrettas from model A to D, an Isomoto, Rumi Formichino and a few other oddities. You can view the catalogue here
