Yes ok, so I like good gloves. And these are good gloves. So much so that I wore my first pair out.
These replacements are coming up to two years old now, and they are still my favourites when the weather is good.
The Alpinestars SP-X gloves feature carbon fibre knuckles, finger knuckle protection, side palm protection, full-grain leather (which has reinforcement and padding in vulnerable areas and a breathable mesh in others), and that all goes to make for a reassuring fit, yet they are never clammy on my hands. They’ve been around the UK and throughout Europe to scooter rallies, scooter launches and general touring, their high performance credentials offering reassurance at all times.
Some may claim all gloves are the same, but companies such as Alpinestars invest a lot in product development – which often takes place with the help of top level motorcycle racers – and so you find subtle features such as the micro-injected finger knuckle protection with additional side palm protection and the last two fingers are joined (but not in a restrictive way) to protect your little pinky should you go sliding.
Secured with Velcro wrist straps despite the hard wear, so far the only sign that this pair are well used are discolouring on the palms (from dirty handlebar grips!) and some of the strange sticker stripes on the fingers coming off. For £79.99 (in numerous sizes and various colour-ways, from subtle to ‘in ya face’) – or as little as £51.95 on the internet, I can’t sing their praises highly enough. Visit Alpinestars
