We have been asked by Jonnie’s family to publish these details. The funeral will take place at Dukinfield Crematorium on 20th of December at 3pm sharp.
Funeral arrangements
Jonnie’s funeral will take place on Tuesday 20th December at 3pm. The service will be held at Dukinfield Crematorium, Hall Green Road, Dukinfield, SK16 4EP.
Please arrive at the crematorium by 14:40.
There is no dress code, come as you like. Everybody who knew Jonnie is welcome to attend and he will be led to church by his wife Jude on the back of John’s old Vespa. Six pall bearers will escort the hearse on scooters, followed by close friends and family in two funeral cars.
Riding behind the cars will be the Stockport Crusaders, followed by the Manchester Nite Owls and any other clubs and scooters who want to be a part of the procession.
Be respectful
Jonnie was a popular character who did a lot for the scooter scene as we know it and this will no doubt be the biggest funeral the crematorium has ever seen. Please park considerately, there will be other funerals both before and after Jonnie. Please be respectful of others as they mourn.
The service itself will last a maximum of 20 minutes and it’s possible not everybody will be able to fit inside, please allow close family and friends into the chapel first.

Celebration
A celebration of Jonnie’s life will be held at Dukinfield Town Hall straight after the service, postcode SK16 4LA. Everybody within the scooter scene is a part of his family so all are welcome to join for an evening of stories. memories and chat about the life and times of our lovable rogue. There will be a bar, hot & cold drinks and a buffet. Of course a celebration can’t go without music and dancing, so as the lights dim the party will go on until last orders at 11.15pm.
Flowers/donations?
Jude has asked that only flowers from the family, VFM and the Stockport Crusaders be sent.
Not only does Jonnie leave behind a wife but also his children, Jade, Kitty and young twins Alfie and Alanna, as well as two grandchildren, Luca and Cas and sister Judith.
Although it’s not necessary, if you do want to donate something we have set up a GoFundMe page in Jude’s name. We’d like to see her and the kids being able to do something nice as soon as they feel able, be that a holiday or them giving something to the lung transplant unit where Jonnie was treated.
