The component holding everyone back at the start of the century was the absence of a decent clutch, so Christiaan developed a multi-plate solution using CNC which went on to win many championships right up to the Zuera 24-hour and Polini Cup. It was also the basis for a great deal of copying.
To celebrate 10 years in production PLC are releasing a red anodised version of the clutch as a limited edition of only 36 pieces (36 is Christiaan’s old race number). Typically, the clutch arrives as a piece of art, in its own wooden frame.
Technically the new clutch is lighter and has improved internal cooling so it can be used with traditional SAE 30 gearbox oil in the highest output engines. Up to 2010 the PLC clutch had no internal cooling holes and was used with Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF). This older type is the one that was copied, so Christiaan still believes his clutch is the best on the market.
