UK Motorway riding World Record attempt….four riders on four Lambrettas and it’s all for Charity mate!

 

Commencing 6th July four riders will attempt to set a new World record by riding on the 50 Motorways in England, Scotland and Wales in one go; whilst raising some much needed funding for the Parkinson’s UK Charity.

Barry Drew, a member of the four manned “Scootaway UK” Team tells us “The 4 riders will be covering approximately 300 miles a day as they criss cross the country, leaving Dunfermline on Thursday 6th July and completing the record attempt when they join the M2 at Chatham on Sunday 9th July”.

So who are these charity minded foolhardy souls? The Scootaway UK team comprises of Jim Dennis, Peter Johnson, Steve Holmes, Mark Broadhurst, Dave Drew & Barry Drew, along with four other support members.

As the ScootawayUK team attempt the World Record, they would welcome support from fellow scooterists and anyone wishing to meet up with them, or ride a section of the route with them, the itinerary is as follows: Wednesday 5th July: Staying at Sweet Chestnut by Marston’s Inns, Whimbrell Way, Dunfermline, KY11 8EX Thursday 6th July: – Departing Sweet Chestnut and riding the following motorways before arriving at the Best Western Garstang Country Hotel & Golf Club, Bowgreave Drive, Bowgreave, Preston,PR3 1YE. Motorways – M90, M9, M876, M80, M73, M74, M77, M8, M898, M6 & M55. Friday 7th July: Departing Garstang Country Hotel & Golf Club and riding the following motorways before arriving at The Derbyshire Hotel Carter Lane East, South Normanton, DE55 2EH. Riding Motorways – M55, M6, M61, M65, M58, M57, M62, M53, M56, M60, M602, M67, M66, M606, M621, M18, M180, M181 & M1. Saturday 8th July: Departing The Derbyshire Hotel and riding the following motorways before arriving at the Holiday Inn Express Swindon West M4 Jct 16 SN5 8UD Motorways- M1, M69, M45, M6 Toll, M54, M5, M42, M40, M50, M4, M48, M49 & M32. Sunday 9th July: Departing the Holiday Inn Express Swindon West and riding the following motorways before arriving at Chatham Dock Yard, for the ride finale and hopefully, new World Record! Motorways- M4, M3, M27, M271, M275, M25, M23, M11, M20, M26 & M2.
