Ingenuity, bodgery or just plain desperation? We’ve all had to bodge something at the side of the road to get us to our destination, or home. Scooterists are famous for their roadside ingenuity, as we’ve seen recently in our Scooterist Tips series (Just search Scooterist Tip using the magnifying glass at the top of the screen for other tips).

If you’ve had an ingenious idea to help get you out of a pickle, be it at the roadside, or in the shed, take a few photos and send them in with some details. If we feature your tip you’ll be rewarded handsomely with one of our SLUK T-shirts.

Gives the term 'water in your electrics' a whole new meaning

Thanks to Marty of the Ulster Lambretta Club for this clever little bodge, carried out en-route to EuroLambretta in Italy. It’s not a life saver but could save you getting a fine by some over-zealous foreign policeman, or stop you frying your electrics if it rains.

Smashed headlight on your scooter?

Assuming there’s no other damage to you or your scooter simply cut the ends off a plastic water bottle, slit it down the side, gaffa tape it on and carry on with your journey. Marty admits he’s a clumsy sod and has done this twice.

Almost as good as Bertone envisaged.
