Andy Hylton, the man behind the camera at ‘The Scooterists’ has launched a £149,600 Kickstarter campaign today. He hopes to secure some of the funds he needs to realise the feature-length film about our strange fetish for Italian shopping bikes, partying and general weekend debauchery.
What makes this film different from most of the other stereotypical attempts at showing what scooters and Scooterists are all about is that this one will focus on us – the people who are out there doing it, living the life (rather than some uneducated media stab in the dark where we’re all labelled as Mods).

Andy is turning his cameras to some of the big hitters from the scene, some of the unsung heroes who just get out there and do it and it’s being shot from many angles and on many types of media. Coupled with Andy’s past success on many top music videos, short films etc. (read about those in Sticky’s interview here) and of course the original ‘The Scooterists’ trailer (above) that got us all on board in the first place. The Scooterists should become one of the closest representations of the scooter scene you’ll ever get to see.
Before all that though he needs the backing of the people who count – you, me, us and everybody associated with these vintage machines and the lifestyle that surrounds them.
£150,000 fund raising target
Andy aims to shoot the film in 4k, with full Dolby cinema sound, he’ll be using various cameras and angles, including drone footage for a fully-immersive experience. Money raised through Kickstarter will help Andy to fund film crews throughout 2019 and into 2020. It’ll also help pay the very expensive rights to the soundtrack used for the film, plus get Blu Ray copies of the finished film made, commemorative patches and fund a cinema screening event for 100 ‘Number Ones Collectors Package’ backers.
As well as a classic soundtrack, Andy aims to use some of the modern day up and coming bands, like The Superlatives, Natural Rhythm Ska Band and Page 45.

With Kickstarter it’s all or nothing, if the fundraising total isn’t met then Andy gets nothing. It costs from just £5 to get involved. The next level up is £10 for ‘The Scooterists Package’, @20 for ‘The Owners Package’ then £50 for ‘The Collectors Package’
The Number Ones Collectors Package
The top-level ‘Number Ones Collector Package’ costs £100 and guarantees you a place at the special screening of the film in Andy’s home town of Scarborough. You’ll also get a limited edition BluRay in a metal box, your name in the film credits, a printed cloth ‘The Scooterists’ patch, a logo keyring/bottle opener. Just 100 places are available for this one.
