Most scooter riders will be familiar with Italian clothing brand, Tucano Urbano. After all, they\’re a name we use ourselves and often recommend to our readers at SLUK (just do a search for Tucano using our search function – top right of the page). We also recommend them to our friends when they\’re looking for decent gear that does what it\’s meant to do.
The Milan based company set out to make life on two wheels simpler, safer and more engaging. Being based in Milan meant that scooters were – and still are part of everyday life. Tucano wanted to make scooter riding easier. They didn\’t want riders to have to put on loads of bulky bike kit to keep warm and dry in winter, so in 1999 – their first year, they introduced the original commuters favourite Termoscud® leg cover – a sight that is very common in cities these days.
20 years of Tucano Urbano
Tucano have expanded massively over the last two decades, whilst still sticking close to their core principles. They\’ve developed and designed many new products. They pretty much reinvented the way scooter wear is designed. Bringing Italian style to a segment that was more function over form back in the day.
Diego Sgorbati, Tucano Urbano CEO, said: “Looking back over the past twenty years, it is clear how far Tucano Urbano has come – from a small Italian brand with a niche product, to an international brand that now spans across every avenue of two-wheel riding. What’s vital to our success is our team; Tucano Urbano is made up of riders passionate about what we do so we approach every opportunity with enthusiasm and constantly push the boundaries of what we can create. We’ve already got a lot in store for the next twenty years.”

I think their quality control has nosedived in the last 4years. Stud poppers that won’t either snap shut and if they do then you can’t get the fecking things open again without ripping the thing out of its fabric base. Gloves also have taken a nosedive in claiming too be waterproof when clearly not up too the job and stitching just coming apart at the seams. Apart from that they ok in the style stakes
Since dealing with Tucano I’ve only had one item returned as faulty (a set of waterproofs) and all the stuff myself and the other half uses has been spot on.
All of my gear came from urbano tucano via trade was peanuts so I just usually throw them in the bin and make mental note not too get them again. Now if I was paying full price then I’d be hammering at the dealers door asking for a full refund
