 Why: Playing with beer on St George’s Day

Nestling in an open valley with easy links to the M1/A38/A610 MFN is perfectly situated for an event like the annual Bangers & Mash scooter rally. 

This year over 1000 people came to enjoy sunny days and freezing nights whilst listening to live bands, including Tenpole Tudor and the Sex Pistols Experience. By day an outdoor disco, stalls, bouncy castle and a jester kept both adults and kids at the family friendly event entertained. Run by local club, CSWSSC the rally is a favourite with local scooter riders but also attracts people from further afield, like the owner of the matt black cutdown ‘The Grim Reaper’ sporting a Yamaha YPVS engine and full-sized coffin trailer. Ridden all the way from Devon. 

Club events and rallies like this one may not appeal to everybody but they offer something a little different to the norm and give scooterists with families somewhere to take their offspring in a slightly more controlled environment than a national. Keep your eyes open for next years event, usually held as close to St George’s Day as possible.
