30 lucky German scooter speed freaks took to the historic Nürburgring earlier this month for three practice sessions and a time trial. With classic machinery ranging from a 52er Vespa to modern high horsepower power plants like the Casa SSR 265, CNC machined Simmonini exotica, Quatrinni M200 Vespa smallframes and SIP’s 45bhp BFA 306 large frame Vespa (pictured above) this was like a track day for the fastest road-going scooters around.
Fastest lap
The fastest scooter on the day was ridden by Robert Leibfahrt, his Falc Vespa smallframe set a new fastest scooter lap record (for the smaller GP circuit configuration) at 2:44. The day attracted complete track novices, seasoned racers, enthusiastic amateurs and an ESC racing series champion. You can read more about it in the SIP blog here, but take a good look through their photos first.
