Pioneering Oxfordshire based electric motor company, Saietta have announced plans to expand their UK production facilities. The new plant will create 250 local jobs over the next three to five years and enable the company to increase growth in the fast-developing electric market place.
Electric scooters
The company are well known for their pioneering work – which includes motors that powered the first Isle of Man Zero TT electric bike, the first manned electric helicopter flight, electric boats and aircraft. More interestingly for ScooterLab – they also power electric scooters. Including the early prototype electric Scomadi we featured a while ago (see video above).
The new sustainable Saietta plant will be powered by solar panels and funded through new investment. Energy expert and serial investor Emmanuel Clair has been working alongside the company for a while, he’s just been appointed as Non-Exec Chairman.
Chief Executive Officer of Saietta Group, Wicher Kist said “The appointment of Emmanuel Clair is a natural step in our evolution and signals that we have the impetus to deliver transformative solutions for mass-market EVs. Emmanuel and I have worked together successfully for the last three years and we can finally start to roll out our technology, and clean up the air in large cities around the world. The new round of funding will allow us to fast track our deployment.”
With a Masters in Engineering and PhD, Clair worked for French utility giant EDF for eight years, followed by 12 years with Goldman Sachs where he was managing director of three separate energy trading desks in London.
Clair said: “I have been watching the growth of e-mobility for the last five years, and my decision to accept the role at Saietta Group is a commitment to the company’s potential, which I think will be transformative to the entire mobility industry

Designed in England by world-renowned electric motor pioneer and inventor, Cedric Lynch, Saietta’s AFT Axial Flux motor is lightweight and scalable. It can be used for everything from a humble scooter engine to a bus, plane or boat. It offers very efficient performance at both low and high voltage. The maintenance-free, brushless and fully-sealed motor is ultra-efficient, works at lower RPM and can be air or liquid-cooled depending on the application.
