This 128-page picture book was sent to us recently by Catalan author and scooterist, Hector Vilar. When I say ‘author’, ‘photographer’ is probably a better description of him. There’s just a brief three-page intro in Catalonian (you can hover your mobile over that to get Google to translate for you) then the rest of the book is packed with fantastic images of scooters, scooterists and events.

The book ‘Now the scooter run begins – scootering in Catalunya 2009-2019’ is packed with loads of great full-colour images depicting the scooter scene in the Catalonian region over the last decade. It’s always good to see how the scooter scene differs from ours in other countries. We all ride scooters and have styles of dress and scooter customisation that are similar but often quite different to our own.

Now the scooter run begins…

Our man, with his helmet in his hand and 250kms ahead, lowers his head, looks first at his boots and then, glancing at the sun’s mid-morning menace he whispers, “Now. Now the scooter run begins.”

Who’s it for?

If you enjoy reading more than looking at pictures then this book probably isn’t for you. On the other hand, if you’re intrigued by styles, fashions, scooters and the scene that surrounds them in other parts of the world then this book is an ideal coffee-table item that not many other scooterists will have seen.
