This weekend sees the second National Scooter Rally of the year taking place in Weston- Super-Mare, or you can go and watch BSSO scooter racing at Cadwell Park instead.
It’s certainly good to have a choice about where to go again. Things really do seem to be getting back to normality (at last) as we learn to live with and adapt to the new Covid-infused world. Of course, SLUK will be covering both events. Personally though, I’ll be coming out of hibernation, loading up my Quattrini-powered Eibar and racing my mates to Weston where myself and Booga will be taking photos in-between catching up with friends I’ve not seen in ages and drinking the pubs dry.
BSRA Weston
Of course, this weekend is traditionally used for the Woolacombe rally but due to the uncertainty of restrictions the rally was cancelled and moved to Weston instead. Despite the later time of year, the South West Scooter Clubs will still be running a campsite at the Rugby Club and the forecast is good for the weekend so if you’re still undecided, get yourself there! The site has full fascilities, a bar and will also hold the custom show and parts fair. They’ll also be running the evening entertainment in Tropicana, rather than on the Pier.
Weekend tickets for camping and entertainment are £25 or if you’re in B&B it’s £15 for the entertainment (which also gets you a day pass for the site). See you there.
BSSO Cadwell
If you’re not going to Weston there’s always some high-octane action in Lincolnshire. It’s £16 for a day ticket to spectate at Cadwell. Racing is on Saturday and Sunday and you can also camp there if you wish (no doubt that will save you paying for both days as well). Cadwell is probably the most dramatic track in the country, has great facilities and is always full of drama so is well worth a visit.
We’ll be running a feature from there by rookie, Phil Hallam and veteran racer, Stuart Day later next week.
Southport BSRA National
Recently (after some behind the scenes wrangling) the Southport National Scooter Rally was confirmed for the end of October, this will be held at the Prince of Wales Hotel with two nights of music and live entertainment and the LCGB end of year trade and custom show. VFM have secured 100 rooms at the hotel at a special rate of £95 for a double including breakfast. The details are on the flyer above.
Support those who support us
Rally organisers have faced mountains of red tape and uncertainty to put (or try to put) events on for us these past two years. Whenever possible let’s support them by going to the do, having a good time and partying like it’s 2019 all over again. It’s been a long time coming!
