At 6 am on Friday morning (26th March) Welsh scooter boy, Jason Ude will be setting off from Cardiff on a 1366-mile solo scooter ride to raise money for cancer charity Sarcoma. This is the third charity endurance event Jason has organised and taken part in. His first was in the middle of the first lockdown in 2020 (with special permission from the government), that ride was to raise funds for Breast Cancer UK. Then in 2021, Jason was raising cash for the Welsh Air Ambulance.
Sarcoma UK Jason’s chosen charity for 2022 is Sarcoma, in loving memory of a friend, Sean Gannon (pictured) who passed away with the rare bone and soft tissue cancer just before Christmas. The gruelling ride is to be completed by Jason in one and a half days and he expects to ride for 14-16-hours each way. This is the first endurance ride that Jason has started so early in the year so he’ll have dark nights, colder temperatures and possibly wintry weather to contend with, especially as he gets closer to the Scottish Highlands and his destination, John O’Groats. Jason’s Facebook page is the place to place your donations, they go direct to Sarcoma UK and Facebook don’t charge anything for sending them. You can go direct to his page (he’ll update and share the link before he sets off) using the donate button below. We wish Jason the best of luck for a safe and successful ride.
Sponsors A few scooterist owned and run businesses and organisations have stepped in to help sponsor the event, most notably The Brogue Trader who are paying for the fuel for the whole journey.
