This weekend will see the British Scooter Endurance Club heading back to Whilton Mill in Daventry for the first of three rounds in 2022.
Following on from the success of endurance racing since it began in 2019, the organisers decided to add an extra meeting for this year and they’ll also be increasing the second event to 8-hours rather than the usual six.
Spectators/Live feed
Whilton Mill provided the venue for the first meeting of 2021 and despite being spectator free (Covid enforced) the racing was beamed live around the world at television-quality via the wonders of YouTube (a first for scooter racing).
The good news is that spectators are allowed at Whilton Mill this time (it’s also free to get in), the track has good facilities and a café, plus there’s space to camp if you want to. The second bit of good news is that thanks to sponsorship (and crowdfunding donations) the live feed will once again be taking place so if you can’t attend you can watch the action as it happens.

The Live feed runs from 10:50 am on Saturday 16th April until the race finishes at 5 pm, you’ll also be able to watch it using this link after the race is over. Scooterist, Ellis will be helping the commentary crew out by being their roving pit lane reporter again. Be sure to send in plenty of your comments, encouragement and support for the teams and riders during the event.
32 riders will be lining up for the 11 am Le Man’s race start.
New to BSEC include German team TD-Customs who will be fielding a Targa Twin in Race Class. The team are class winners at Magny Cour. Also new to Race Class are a second Dukes of Essex team.

In Road Class #13 Team Solid Air are new to the fold on a Lambretta GP 190, as well as #77, former grass track racers, Greater Peterborough Scooter Club who will be riding a Moto Rumi. The final new team will be #27 GRR (they sound angry) who will be riding a Vespa PX 200.

Pro Race will see Hornet Racing, SRP Real Taffspeed and RFS Tune 111 fighting for the honours.
Just in case you missed it, SLUK Racing won Race Class and we also won overall at Teesside in September. Sadly, we’ve got to sit this one out because half the team had already committed to the Whitby National Scooter Rally. We’ll be racing our scooters to the seaside though and cheering you all on from the pub via the live video feed.
Getting there
Whilton Mill Karting and Outdoor Activities Centre is located bang in the middle of the country at Whilton Locks, Whilton, Daventry, Northamptonshire, NN11 2NH. As well as the race track Whilton also boasts decent washing facilities and an 80-seater restaurant with good quality food. See more about the track here.
