Have a look back at production of the Lambretta Vijay Super at the Indian SIL factory. Shot in glorious crinkly black & white, with a voiceover done by Mr Cholmondley-Warner, who reliably informs us that “More than a 1000 quality checks are carried out before a scooter rolls out of the factory…” Marvel as new engine casings, headsets and complete scooters roll endlessly off the production lines, ready to be abused by us lot many years later.
This is an old Cine film from Kev Walsh’s collection posted by an old mate from Wales 🙂

More than 1000 quality control checks. Must have missed a few on my new SIL gp200 in 1980. The petrol tank was full of red-lead. Loads of it. More than just a bit of overspay. Looked like someone had put the spray gun in the tank and give it a good spaying..it was like stringy rubber…easy fix and other than that the scooter was perfect and very reliable. . it could have been curry and not red-lead !
