News reached us this morning and spread like wildfire across Facebook (as I’m sure many of you saw) that long-standing scooter parts dealer, Beedspeed Ltd is in liquidation. Before we all bury them, is this as black and white as it seems? The Companies House info can’t be argued with for sure but they wouldn’t be the first scooter business to rise from the ashes after restructuring.
The Grimsby based shop opened in 1983 and gained an enviable reputation for its quick and very reliable mail order service. Originally set up and owned by Alan Beedham, the shop flourished for over 30 years and moved to larger premises in the early 2000s. Alan and wife Sylvia sold the business as a going concern in February 2016 and retired.
Despite details of the liquidation (from Companies House) being spread around this morning, the Beedspeed website is still live and taking orders, its also advertising Christmas gift ideas and their Facebook page is active and up to date.
We’ve spoken to General Manager, Dan Burton at the shop and he told us “It’s business as usual here”. He went on to say the shop has been “Undergoing some internal restructuring” but didn’t want to elaborate too much, or discuss the finer details of the insolvency. Our thoughts are that being absolutely clear and transparent is the best way to move forward once a situation like this develops. If the business is to carry on it needs to regain customer trust. When pressed as to whether the company owed money to suppliers when it was liquidated he assured us that no suppliers were out of pocket, all customer orders (and refunds) have been completed and although Beedspeed Ltd may be no more the shop is looking forward to the future.
Dan assured us that they have invested heavily in a new warehousing system, and eCommerce website since they took the business over in 2016. He admitted that like any parts based business there are going to be issues occasionally, with orders being sent out incorrectly but he told us they currently work on a 94% stocking system so most parts are available off the shelf. He also explained that it’s not always the shop’s fault if something is out of stock, some of their suppliers don’t keep stock of everything and it can lead to delays along the supply chain. He was keen to reassure people that they plan to “Get the business back to what it once was.” He also pointed out that their three day long Black Friday sale event saw the most traffic to the Beedspeed website and created 500 new customers.

Open for business
We have seen online that some customers have been receiving refunds this week (before the news broke) and orders are still going out. The shop is most certainly open today and the phones are being answered. It seems the insolvency notice was posted by a disgruntled customer (a customer who the shop have been trying to track down for a while to refund him, according to Dan). Yes, it’s true that Beedspeed Ltd is no more but as far as we’ve been told they’ve not liquidated to avoid paying debts… Beedspeed has invited us up to the shop in the New Year to have a look behind the scenes and we’ll no doubt take them up on the offer. Beedspeed’s reputation has certainly suffered under the new ownership but is it as justified as it seems? It’s usually the minority of customers who post comments about bad service, whilst happy customers just get parts and forget about the transaction.
Let us know if you’re a happy Beedspeed customer/supplier (or not as the case may be).

Please don’t associate the new Beedspeed Ltd UK registered company name with ScooterLab.UK. The ‘new’ Beedspeed business was set up and registered under the name of Jade Elizabeth Smith on 19/10/2018, a couple of weeks before Beedspeed Ltd was liquidated. Now that, Dan and Victoria Burton can no longer be company directors Jade is sole director.

Hello,
I want to let all scooterist and trade people know about Dan from Beedspeed and what he did to us. We are manufacturers and suppliers of Lambretta and Vespa parts from 1980s. We were the only supplier of Beedspeed from India from last many years and we were supplying him more than 1000 parts for Lambretta and Vespa, I am also good friend of Alan previous owner of Beedspeed, we had such good relations with Alan from Beedspeed that we used to supply parts before getting advance money, after delivery of goods whenever we need money we used to get money from Alan without any problem for many years. Then Alan goes on retirement and sold Beedspeed to Dan, We trusted Dan Beedspeed like we trusted Alan from years, so we did offered same service to Dan, in starting Dan was shocked that how we sent parts before getting payment, we told him all about relations with Beedspeed Alan. After some time we faced many problems with payment issues, he had made many fake promises and words. He stopped replying back and not even answering calls from us or even any new number from India. Still we have to take more than £20000 from him. And we have all proofs of his fake words and promises.
I had read what Dan said to you in the interview, everyone knows when a company goes bankrupt , there is no chance that he can prove he is all good with the company and customers. HE IS A FAKE BUSINESS PERSON, he also cheated many customers, all the experienced staff members in Beedspeed left job because he was not even making payments to staff. There is only one experienced staff person left with Dan’s Beedspeed all other left him as you can imagine why so, you can even ask Alan previous owner of Beedspeed who made that team, I am sure Alan also knows all this. Dan have to pay many other suppliers within UK and all over the world, I thought that we should let you know all what he did to us and maybe many others customers can be saved from losses.
Also check attached list of total amount Dan’s Beedspeed owes to other people,
I got this list from his liquidators, as you can see our name in his list.
Thanks any questions ready to answer.

Angad
Beedspeed Ltd was wound up owing £300,000
Above we’ve published an email from Angad at Kohli Auto, a reputable Beedspeed supplier for many years. Angad told us “He (Dan) is not going to pay any of the money he owes me back. I’ll get nothing from anywhere.”
Trading on the once proud and honourable values of the former owner (Alan Beedham), it appears that Dan Burton and wife Victoria (Beedspeed UK was run under Victoria’s name) owe Kohli a not insubstantial £20,000, although that is the tip of a much deeper iceberg.
Looking at the insolvency report (pictured below) it also appears that Beedspeed Ltd wound up owing £296,405.32 to a list of 16 creditors, including £166,000 to HM Revenue & Customs. Many of the debts also appear to be to money lenders/financial backers who no doubt bankrolled Beedpeed Ltd based on its past good financial history and goodwill.

January 2024
We still get emails and updates about Beedspeed from concerned suppliers/debtors.
As of January 24th, 2024 Beedspeed (or BSLUK as they are on Companies House) are facing another compulsory strike-off from the CH register for failing to submit accounts. It also appears that Dan Burton has been allowed back on as a director and the company has had more changes and chances than a little.
I’ve used them in the last couple of years….first couple of orders fine, quick delivery etc. Last order sent wrong part, didn’t answer my emails about trying to sort it. Reasonably low cost item (about £15) so I just voted with my feet.
quick off the mark for all my chopper cables, about a year ago, so personally no gripe
No gripe either. It’s a while since I used them and it took a while for the parts to come but they eventually did. They often have parts that can’t be got anywhere else. Feeling for them.
I live close by, so its easy to pop in for bits. I have to say though, that stock levels aren’t what they used to be and I am often surprised by stuff thats not on the shelf. I suspect trying to keep this ‘restructuring’ entirely to themselves hasn’t helped much.
I found them good. The old website was top notch with a huge range of stock. I got a custom loom made up last June for a vintage Vespa 12volt conversion and it was exactly what I wanted. The old website was so packed full of stock there were obviously going to be times when items weren’t available, you’d get them when they were back in stock or you could cancel and be refunded. I found them easy to deal with from Ireland. I did notice though last Sept that the ‘new-look’ website wasn’t carrying a fraction of the stock the old one did (then again sometimes a new website can be a bad move, look at Scooter Center Cologne’s new site, the old one seemed somehow better) The best parts/spares websites are the one’s where the business goes above and beyond to explain or detail their product – several hd pictures, and even a picture of what parts looks like fitted to an actual scooter, combined with any technical information available relating to the part and your going to sell more, simple (Many of the UK scooter parts websites could do well to pick up on that advice) I wish Beedspeed all the best for the future
Biggest problem with what was beedspeed, now bsluk on paper work is that it is being managed by a squirmy thieving worm. Daniel George Robert Burton, who disappeared and stole alias of money from people in London not so long ago. If you want to see him struggle
to answer why he did it watch the channel 4 news video where they tracked him down.https://www.channel4.com/news/the-tycoon-landlord-and-his-tenants-missing-money
He definitely is just playing the system and stealing government/tax payers money. About time people caught up with him I reckon, maybe the taxman should take a closer look!!!

Just to clear up any misunderstanding, BSLUK is the registered business name of Beedspeed Ltd UK and is in no way connected to SLUK.
Phoenix company
I’ve used Beedspeed many times over the years with good service. Last year I ordered an inner tube amongst other things and had to call them after a few weeks as I hadn’t received the tube. They sent me one and then a couple of weeks later sent me a second? The guy must have lots of charisma to enable many people to part with their hard earned cash, however he seems to lack some basic skills required to run a legitimate company. Buyer beware!
I ordered from Beedspeed on Tuesday & my full order arrived on Friday.
150 Barrell, piston, head, SIP 2 exhaust, gasket set, small bearing and main jet.
Was a bit dubious to place the order but they were there gave some advice.
Most pleased with the time scales.
Thank you Beedspeed.
John in Livingston trying to make a Bajaj 125 go faster……
Ordered a crankcase splitting tool on Thursday evening. (I’d have though that was out of hours)
Received confirmation email and message it had been shipped the same evening.
It arrived Saturday morning.
I’ve used Beedspeed in the past when it was Alan, I wouldn’t be able to spot the difference in customer service today.
I’ll happily use them again.
Been using these since the start and Beedspeed was always my go to shop. Alan, Pete and all the other lads were always happy to help.Jump forward to 2016 and OH MY GODS WHAT A CHANGE. I couldn’t get my parts in time, refunds took months even after i spoke to DG himself. He spun lie after lie and was rude on the phone. Recently talking to one of his ex employees they told me he still wasn’t paying suppliers, ripping smaller companies off and he hadn’t even been paying their pensions through nest (which the ex employee said he was under investigation for currently) Why the hell are you still using this vile little man to buy your parts. also if you look into who is currently on record as the owner you may find that they are just as dirty. I feel for Kholi and the others who sent him stuff just to not get paid. I popped in the other day to be nosy and was told to wait outside and place my order online. They will bring it out. There were staff packing orders outside on the pavement it was chaos The lads had no masks or gloves on . RIP The Real Beedspeed
I used to work here and know a lot about all of this feel free to email me and we can talk more
I ordered a front mudguard on the 19th of July 2021. I didn’t receive what should have been a simple item, it wasn’t down as back order or out of stock, so after a fortnight I called them and someone was pretty edgy and aggressive and said it would be a couple of weeks as it was on back order. I wasn’t told this at the point of ordering, but decided to let it slide. After the fortnight I rand and got a guy called Dan who said that the part would be in on Monday so I’d definitely get it Tuesday. Wednesday I called to ask where it was and was told they can get a chrome one locally, the supplier let them down so if I’d accept a chrome one then they’d get that out to me Monday. No show, so I called them again and Dan said he’d look into it. strangely that evening I got a message to say it had been dispatched. SO yesterday I arrived home to see it sitting in the porch. Opened the box. Wrong mudguard. Absolutely incredible. I spoke to Rebecca this morning 27-08-2021, she is going to ring back in ten minutes (% hours ago). I rang up and spoke to her manager who was pretty rude and said she would get back to me. She hasn’t yet. I’d strongly advise people to think really hard before dealing with these people.
I’m shocked to the core that Dan and his wife are still getting away with this.
I worked for this company for a short time and was the biggest mistake I could have made.
Dan is an aggressive and abusive man. I can’t go into detail on here due to my career.
He has absolutely no idea how to run a business, he goes from place to place ripping companies off, closing up and reopening under different names. Same for the popular salon his wife runs. They don’t pay staff properly they don’t provide payslips let alone pay the pension that staff had deducted from their wages. How he continues to get away with it I don’t know. He has many business under various names Dan George/Burton and he takes his wife’s surname to avoid being found.
Should be behind bars!
C.P Vintage – A ‘business’ that sold ex bankrupt/2nd hand designer gear. No website, no accounts filed, no tax paid, no utilities paid, never took deliveries, ‘owner’ running about off his nut in other peoples cars with no correct documents wearing all the knocked off gear from the shop.Gas company turned up one day and drilled the lock on the shop. Then the coup de gras was Octobers raid when they realised that everyone knew all along what they were up to and the police had been watching it for months. Scum the lot of em, they don’t think they are though. Now they’re all pariahs and they don’t know why LOL
I’m an ex tenant of Dan and Jades at Seaview Court. About a month into my tenancy they put a note under my door suddenly asking for £100 per month more. I had a massive row with Jade on the phone and Dan was hiding in the flats and darent come down to face me but warning me that “he knows people”. During my time there my motorbike was scratched (hmm I wonder who by). Jade tried to justify the rent increase by saying she had a (£15000 gas bill) for the apartments ? Like that had anything to do with me and told me she was going to break into my apartment and take my stuff.

Another success story in another family members name.
No website, no accounts filed, flogging 2nd hand stock, never any deliveries or genuine customers. Gas board drilling the lock for unpaid bills while they all hid inside. Puppet (muppet) owner running around in other peoples flash cars off his nut all the time thinking he’s gods gift to women. That’s how this endeavour ended.
