The lads at RLC are not the types to just sit in their workshops telling you how good their products are: they actually get on their collective scooters and ride them to rallies and events all over Europe. Their real-world extreme product testing is all open-book as well and done in front of everyone.
Prime examples being their use of full-fat SSR and SST 265cc motors, being held at constant 85-90 mph speeds on Albanian motorways for endless miles in intense 35° heat. Prior to that, when they rode across Europe to the Meltdown event at the start of February, which was somewhat colder. The end result of this mile munching testing means that unlike most other parts manufacturers, the products in the Casa Performance range very rarely get after-sales problems or comebacks of any type once they are released.
Luna Meltdown
It’s not long to go until this year’s Scooterist Meltdown rally (7-10 th February) and they intend to ride a handful of smallframe Lambretta Lui (Vegas) models from their native Rimini in Italy up to the event on the German-Dutch border.
Here at SLUK we have kept you all up to speed on the advent of the forthcoming ‘CP One35’ plug ‘n’ play kits that Casa Performance have already designed and tested – but they intend to do one final test of the finalised pre-production kits before they go into full-on production.
The scooters will all be fitted with these new 135cc kits, most of which are ‘straight of the box’ but one will also be tuned. They will have a mixture of different exhausts, cranks with different balance factors and different gear ratios as well. If all goes to plan, they also intend to fit the first prototypes of their new 5-speed gearboxes. All the scooters will be fitted out with snow tyres (which are legally required for the German stretch of the journey) and the machines are being prepared in the RLC workshops (literally) as you read this.

As things stand, they actually have one ‘extra’ machine being prepared and they have decided to offer this up to a scooterist who wants to ride with them for the journey! The only criteria is that you get to Italy in time for the departure on Sunday 3rd February (you can then fly back home from Cologne, Germany after the event) and you bring your own riding gear.
It goes without saying that this needs to be good, as they experienced temperatures of -10°C in the German Alps last year and had to ride through snow blizzards several times along the way. The personal challenge is well rewarding though, especially when you pull into Kalkar alongside those bringing their pillows and duvets out of their cars…. As an added bonus, the rider will get to keep the ‘CP One 35’ cylinder kit used on his/her scooter and although RRP prices are still unconfirmed it’ll probably be over the £400 mark, so that’s not something to be sniffed at.

SCOOTERIST MELTDOWN 4th RIDER UPDATE! Thanks to all those who mailed us (14 people in total) which proves that there are some serious hard-core riders out there. The person who’ll be joining us on the trip is Gegio Dell’Innocenti, an Italian chappie who runs ‘Calavera Street Shop’ and also the ‘Scooterismo.it’ on-line magazine. He was literally the first person to email us so he’ll be joining us on the trip on the ‘spare’ Vega we have. Thanks to all those who expressed an interest. If anyone wants to join us with your own scooter you’re more than welcome BUT it must be on a Lambretta smallframe J Range or Luna Line model!
