BGM has released a new PRO MRB RaceTour piston kit for use with reed valve motors. The piston is made especially for BGM by Meteor and comes complete with a pair of 1mm thick steel piston rings, gudgeon pin and circlips. It’s perfect for RT 225 cylinders that have been converted to reed induction but is also ideal for TS1 cylinders and can be used with Monza top ends providing the head is re-profiled to suit the profile of the piston.
A 65mm reedvalve piston is also available.
Key features
- The piston comes with a MoS2 running-in coating which reduces the friction and comes off during the running-in period.
- The curvature of the piston head is the same as of the genuine Lambretta piston.
- The windows in the piston have reinforcing ribs on the inside.
- The coated steel piston rings are extremely resistant and robust, therefore also suitable for wide exhaust ports.
- The whole piston kit weighs 285gr.

Don’t get me wrong, Meteor make a great cast product, but you should expect a forged piston and drawn wire rings for that layout. Also what is with the ‘originalLambretta piston dome profile 40 years out of date?
