I’m not sure about you lot but I own more plastic fuel cans than I do scooters and I’ve got a few of those as well! Wouldn’t it be nice if we could strap an empty one on to our scooters without it taking up valuable space on an overloaded rack. Well, now you can, thanks to Desert Fox and their folding fuel cells.
They’re designed for adventure motorcyclists and overland travellers really but us scooterists are generally more adventurous than most adventure bike owners and our limited tank capacity means we’re more likely to run out of fuel on a long journey. Which makes these a great modern (if not expensive) alternative to a jerry can.
Three capacities
The fuel cells are available in three sizes, 3-litre (£46), 6-litre (£49) and 20-litre (£55). I’m pretty sure the smallest one would be perfect for most of us. The fuel cells come with a flexible spout (just pop on and pour) and a large screw-top filler that accommodates most sizes of forecourt fuel nozzles. A heavy-duty canvas outer protects the flexible fuel bladder inside and features tough cotton webbing ‘daisy chains’ and heavy-duty D-rings to give plenty of options for securing them to your luggage – empty, or full. When empty it can just be folded almost flat.
