Vespa small frame owners will be pleased to see this new addition from Italian company, Mazzucchelli. It’s a large taper, full-circle reed valve induction crank for Vespa small frames, including the PK models.
VE (UK) are the sole importer for Mazzucchelli scooter crankshafts in the UK and they stock the full range for classic Vespas. This particular crank (part number VE10538) has a standard 51mm stroke and uses a 97mm con rod with 15mm small end bearing. Although VE say flywheel bearing VE10149 and oil seal VE10148 will need to be used if you’re using the crank on early casings.

Malossi primary drive kit
Also new in at VE is this Malossi primary drive kit (part number VM676313) for the small frame Vespa. This new 27/69 (2.55:1) kit is rebuildable, allowing the owner to exchange the springs to suit their engine set up. The clutch bell is manufactured from a “Special steel” and has six precision cutouts for the clutch plates to minimise mechanical play, reduce vibration and wear to the clutch bell and locating tabs.
Gear ratios can be altered to suit requirements by changing the gearing, Malossi have produced a 26 (2.65:1) and 28 (2.46:1) tooth gears which are available to buy separately. They are also available from VE with respective part numbers VM677267 and VM677268.
