We’re off to the international press launch for the new Piaggio Medley 125 later this week. This high-wheeled scooter is an important model for the Italian company because it is aimed directly at the class-leading Honda PCX 125. The Medley features a brand new liquid-cooled engine – the iGET – which includes stop-start technology and a host of fuel-saving and friction-reducing qualities. The iGET engine will also be rolled out across the Piaggio 125 range to replace the 3-valve motor used in the Primavera, Sprint etc. Whether or not it’ll still be liquid-cooled on those models we’ll have to wait and see.
The Medley has a few tricks up its sleeve and will retail at £2671 when it arrives in the showrooms later this month. A cosmetically enhanced ‘S’ version will also be available for £100 more in July.
