As anyone who has been following our series of Casing Wars articles knows, things continue to hot-up in terms of technological updates for the classic Lambretta.
Very much leading the way in terms of investment and pace/quantity of new developments are Casa Performance; Vittorio Tessera’s performance line, developed in conjunction with Rimini Lambretta Centre.
The latest part to drop is a new engine side casing designed specifically to house a monster 7-plate clutch unit with built-in cush-drive designed by BSG.
While the idea was to provide a clutch and therefore side-casing capable of dealing with 60hp cylinders (!?!?!?) both components are intended to be backwards compatible for use on conventional Lambretta engines.
Features of the CasaCover include:
- Enlarged housing to accommodate a much deeper clutch bell.
- 10mm longer forged kickstart shaft (kickstart lever will inevitably stick out 10mm further from the scooter)
- Rack and pinion clutch actuator (like Vespa PK XL) for much lighter clutch lever action.
- Standard position exhaust mounting points (not shown on rendering) so most Lambretta exhaust systems will fit.
- Standard drain and filler plugs (not shown on rendering)
- Completely modernised styling.
The CasaCover is due to be tested this Summer and put into production for the Autumn. At present no price has been fixed.
The Casa Performance clutch is a 7-plate design originally produced for the 305cc billet engine made by tuning loons BSG. That engine was unable to accommodate a cush-drive assembly on the front sprocket so this system was penned. It is a based on a MotoCross design with a cush-drive system built into the clutch bell. Again, this clutch will be backwards compatible so it can be fitted into a Lambretta engine if the CasaCover is also used.
