Sad news for you today I’m afraid. Kev Walsh, sadly passed away earlier this afternoon after a short battle with cancer. Kev was best known as former Lambretta Club of Great Britain Chairman, he was still a BSRA committee member and chaired the annual ‘Number Ones’ meeting, He was also a parts fair organiser and all-round nice chap.
On behalf of us all at ScooterLab, we’d just like to pass on our sincere condolences to the Walsh family and many, many friends from the scooter world. Kev has played a huge part in the classic scooter scene for decades and will be missed by all who knew him. Respect.

Today we have lost a legend. My good friend Kev Walsh has passed away. Similar to when Mike Karslake passed away, Janet and I are full of sadness. We were to visit Kev with all his friends on Sunday coming. We knew the script had been written, and Kev told us the outcome would be terminal, but still the shock is hard to take.
From the late 60s till today, we were buddies, and I loved him like someone who admired another should. He was very special to us. From his ‘Walsh Beat’ ‘articles in Scooter & Scooterist all those years ago, he always stood proud of what he had achieved. He was the true epitome of the term ‘A legend’. God Bless you pal. That is indeed very sad news – my thoughts are with his family and close friends.
I saw Kev recently and he was so brave, still pleasant and joking. Was going to visit again next week. I really just cant believe it. Its so sad. I’ve known Kev for just over 50yrs – since the Widnes Saints SC days. He bought my SX200 when I moved to a GP. We later started the St. Helens Saracens SC. Apart from the scooter side of things we mixed socially. We worked at the same place too Triplex Safety Glass. I have so many memories of Kev – a truly great person. His energy, enthusiasm and passion for whatever he did. My thoughts, love and fondest wishes are with his immediate family, friends in Rainhill, Hilary and all his friends in scootering.

Must have been the same time as me, Dave I too was in those clubs at the time, the St Helens one suggested by Geoff Collins of Tom Collins fame where we used to hang out on Saturdays. I remember Kevin did not have a scooter had to bum a ride with someone else’s pillion, my wife was in stitches riding behind him ,with his bag of sweets as they rode along, I knew Kevin in those days , but as the scooter racing stopped, I move on to Off Road photography, but bumped into Kevin a few times recently, he actually had a parts fair in Walton Hall sports centre, not far from where I alive I bought a barrel and piston off him there. Came as a complete shock that news on Monday, as I too planned to meet up with him again on Sunday, not to be, and very, very sad, still trying to get to grips with it coming so suddenly, probably meet up at the funeral along with who remains of those old times, Gordon and John, maybe Doug Bartlett…………Condolences to Kevin’s family,…………… his daughters were just school children when I called up all those years ago

I remember you. You are correct in saying Geoff Collins gave us the name Saracens for the St. Helens club. He was a great guy and always gave us a bargain or two! They were really good times at the two clubs, with yourself, Brendan Glynn, Pete Sherwin, Mike Ryan etc. The main man was always Kev though, always the driving force. He will be missed by so many people.

I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting him but I’ve seen his name in print so many times over the years. His place in the scooter world was a big one and I think known by many worldwide. Condolences to his family and friends.
It was a very sad day yesterday to hear Kev Walsh had sadly passed away. He will be sadly missed by scooterists including Jan and me, as we had been friends for many years and enjoyed meeting up at his parts fairs and on the Snake pass ride out.
