There aren’t many more iconic motorsports venues than the infamous Nürburgring F1 track, imagine riding it with a huge grid of classic scooters? Well, next month you can! (or at least you could if travel restrictions weren’t making things tricky).
The Scooter Center Cup is happening on July 3rd and 4th 2021 and the organisers are aiming to put this prestigious event firmly back on the calendar. Back in 2004 the Kölner Kurs time trial event was started by Stefan Menke from Köln and grew in popularity with a grid of almost 80 scooters lining up for the second event in 2005. It reached its peak a year later. The event was revived by Dortmunder Motorsport Club mid pandemic in 2020 and will be bigger than ever when it returns on July 3rd and 4th.
Sadly, restrictions mean it will be limited to 500 ticket-holding spectators and overseas riders are going to be thin on the ground but Philipp from Scooter Center aims to attract some Euro contenders there next year. He promises to bring back the heyday of the Nürburgring with entertainment, trade stalls and a great atmosphere. We’ll be covering the event and with any luck will see you there next year.
