SIP have revealed a new Road XL exhaust for tuned/kitted Vespa T5\’s. The \’Race use only\’ exhaust is claimed to give other box style and expansion pipes a run for their money.
You need to look pretty close to notice that the exhaust isn\’t standard, get down on your knees though and you\’ll see the diameter of the header pipe is much fatter than standard and the box itself is deeper. It\’s constructed using a double-wall design with a layer of silencer wool between the inner and outer walls to keep noise levels to a minimum.
Performance
SIP claim the exhaust makes extra power throughout the rev range and also enables the engine to rev on for longer. Credentials usually reserved for SIP Performance, PM and RZ exhausts, rather than box style. The Road XL exhaust is designed for higher power engines (20hp or more), rather than standard motors. In tests on various motors at SIP the Road XL eclipsed all other box style exhausts and made 4.0bhp more than their own SIP Road 2 on a 28bhp engine.
Price and warranty
The Road XL is available now and comes complete with SIP\’s 36-month Premium warranty. It costs £176.46 and you can read the full spec and details on the SIP website here.
We\’ll be testing one shortly on our own SLUK Dyno so watch this space…
