Thousands of Vespa fans from around the world began arriving in the pretty little village of Zanka, Hungary yesterday for the 13th annual Vespa World Days event. Vespa clubs from 38 nations will be attending this year’s event on 3,000 scooters and with Vespisti from as far away as Hong Kong, Japan and Australia attending. No doubt a fair few Indonesians as well, seeing as Bali hosts the Vespa World Days event in 2020.
Vespa World Days is a chance for Vespa enthusiasts from different parts of the world to come together for a weekend of fun in locations many wouldn’t ordinarily visit for a holiday, let alone ride a humble scooter to. The chance to see and ride unseen places, take in far off landscapes and meet others with a common bond is one of the great things about being part of the scooter scene. World events like this take our unhealthy passion for small-wheeled Italian machines to the next level.
18 million Vespas
No less than 49 National Vespa Clubs make up the Piaggio supported Vespa World club, with thousands of affiliated clubs across the nations. It’s not surprising when you consider that 18 million Vespas have been sold around the world since 1946 and the iconic machines have a cult following around the globe.
