The final BSRA National Scooter Rally of 2021 is pencilled in for Southport over the weekend of 29th-30th October. VFM and LCGB have been working hard behind the scenes to make sure the event is on and will be releasing more details soon. A few Covid-infected spanners have been thrown in the works but hopefully, all will be sorted. We’ll keep you posted but for now, just make sure the date is saved in your calendar and that your digs are booked.
Give organisers a break
Rally organisers are fighting very hard to keep events running this year in extremely difficult circumstances. I know just how many trips VFM had to make to the Isle of Wight to ensure the event goes ahead this weekend. I also know how many hoops they’ve had to jump through and the extra costs they’ve incurred to put the first National Rally in two years on.
Aside from the behind the scenes costs and trauma, stay at home Brits have meant there’s much more demand on even the most antiquated seaside towns this year. Prices for accommodation on campsite based rallies will have risen, your usual end of year B&B may also be more expensive than it was.
We’re all scooterists
Just remember, every National Scooter Rally organised under the BSRA banner is put on and run by road-going scooterists. People who ride the miles but also put lots of time, effort and risk into continuing our National scene. There have been various posts on social media this week that have been uncalled for and at best hurtful to personal friends of mine who I’ve ridden to events with (and organised rallies with) over the last 30-odd years.
We’re all scooterists and in difficult times we should all be pulling together but if you don’t want to go somewhere, or prefer to go to another event held on the same weekend that’s fine.
Rant over
Iggy
Iggy I know you are so excited about this but “39th of October” ?
