This is why I’ve been loyal to my Doc Martens for so many years, but sadly their days are numbered.
To my taste I think the Forma boots look really nice – shin height with a low heel, abrasion resistant oiled leather with ankle and shin guards for CE approved protection and best of all no cliched feminine design features.
My first wear of these Forma Harmony boots was a jump into the deep end – using them for a 10 day trip, riding to Italy in April 2015. Long trips are not the time to find out that you don’t get on with your kit but I take testing seriously.
The stitching across the top of my foot rubbed leaving a red mark. More annoying was that the memory-foam air-ventilated insole, one of the big selling points of these boots, would not stay in place, sliding around when I tried to walk.
While I’m not keen on second chances, these boots proved completely waterproof in a torrential downpour, so I changed their insoles for some thermal ones and gave them another try.
They are now well worn-in as I’ve been using them almost constantly since. They’ve been really warm all winter for commuting and being plain black, as well as really comfortable to walk around in, I don’t have take alternative footwear to work and just wear them in the office. I’m happy to say they now live up to their Harmony name.
