Gloves are one of the key items of riding kit that we all (and manufacturers) find hard to get right. They’re either too cold, too warm, not waterproof enough or the linings pull out on hot days. When we find a good pair it’s worth shouting about them.
These Weise Legend gloves were recommended to me by Ann from ScooterNova and a recommendation from a high-mileage rider is usually worth listening to. In the past I’d been riding pillion so decent kit didn’t seem quite as important. You don’t get hit by the worst of the weather when you’re sat on the back but since I passed my test I’ve needed to get myself some better gear.
Protection?
Comfort is important on a longer trip and these fit like a glove. They’re also quite light, that’s mainly because they don’t have any hard armour, which is a shame really. Girls need to protect their hands just as much as boys you know, although the Legend gloves do have doubly thick leather at key impact points.
All-season?
They’ve been warm enough so far, I’ve been using them since early spring and we had some cold, wet rides for the first couple of months but I’d probably choose a full-on winter glove instead if I was planning to ride all year round in them. To be fair it’s better to have a few pairs of gloves to choose from depending on the season/temperature and of course weather.
McFit lining
I’ve recently done an eight-day trip to Germany in them and they were faultless. The McFit inner lining did its job, so the linings stayed in place even on the hottest days. There’s nothing more annoying than trying to poke your fingers back into a glove after the inner lining has pulled out at a fuel stop. We also had a couple of days of torrential rain and the gloves kept my hands bone dry and warm, no multi-coloured dye covered hands for me. Whilst we’re on the subject of fit, the sizing is spot on. I’m usually a medium and these fit perfectly.
Verdict
Other than not having hard armour and a visor wipe on the index finger these are a fantastic pair of gloves. They do exactly what the description and materials say they will. They keep my hands warm, dry and comfortable and aren’t overly expensive.

Material
The Weise Legend gloves come in both male and female styles, they’re one colour; black so that saves trying to choose. The outer is made from full grain leather and Nyspan® and they have a Hipora® waterproof, windproof and breathable inner lining, as well as a 60g Primaloft® thermal lining. I’m not sure what all those materials are, but they do the job.
