New SLUK Vespa PX screens | NEWS

Our Lambretta Coast 2 Coast screens are proving popular in the SLUK Shop and we keep getting asked for other makes and models. We’ve got a few in the pipeline including Lambretta Series 2, Vespa GTS and the Scomadi but the first new product to arrive is this nifty Vespa PX Sports screen. It’s literally hot off the press this week.

Vacuum forming

Although the design is simple enough it still takes quite a bit of work to vacuum form a screen, check out the video above as our manufacturer creates a Lambretta screen.

As with the popular Lambretta Coast 2 Coast screens, the PX screen is made to our own design using quality ABS plastic (like most bike fairings). It’s lightweight, quick and easy to fit (no drilling/screwing or assembly required) and comes in a choice of three colours, black, white and clear.

PX Sports screen

As screens for a PX go I think this one looks quite pleasant, certainly better than the usual grandad screen you can get. It’s strong, light and helps with aerodynamics as well. In theory it should help you to get a couple of extra MPH out of your scooter, increase fuel economy and keep some of the cold and wind off your chest.

Personally I’m a bit gutted because my street racer PX (the black one above) has drops so the screen won’t fit, as you can see from the photo it leaves an unsightly gap.

Fitting

We wanted these to be as easy to fit as possible, so they simply attach to the headset top using double-sided sticky tape. We recommend using a strip of electrical tape to protect the headset before fitting, just so that the paintwork doesn’t get marked and if you’re a speed merchant it’d be wise to buy some heavier duty double-sided tape., just in case Use that instead of the tape that comes attached to the screen when you get it. Another alternative is to use a strip of Velcro so it can be removed whenever you like.

PX Tech screen

There will be another version of this screen called the Tech screen, this one will have an infill panel on the inside to allow you to fit a temp gauge, clock or USB point if you want to. It’s a good way to hide any wiring, or the holes left in a headset top if you’ve taken the mirrors off.

As you can see from the spy shots taken at our top-secret research bunker, the Tech version is still in the early cardboard development stage but our mad scientist will have it ready shortly and we’ll add it to the shop as soon as possible.
