Most of us would have enjoyed taking advantage of the spring sunshine over the weekend and maybe had a little ride out on the scooter. I doubt very much whether any of us spent yesterday morning on the back wheel whilst towing a Jesna light aircraft down a runway.

VIDEO: 125-metre wheelie stunt
The video above shows Günter Schachermayr pulling the 1000lb plane along the runway whilst balancing on one wheel. What it doesn’t show is Günter using his own body power to get the aircraft moving from a standing start using a special harness attached to a 7-metre long Teufelberger fibre rope. Nor does it show the five failed attempts before he cracked the stunt.
Once the aircraft was moving Günter had to jump onto the Vespa and wheelie for 99-metres along the runway whilst towing the aircraft. Heinz Breuer, managing director of the company Life Compass and communication, marketing and flight instructor of the flight school of the Fliegerclub Traunsee was sat in the pilot’s seat to steer the plane.
Guinness World Record?
On his final attempt, Günter ended up pulling the plane 125-metres, as verified by video and GPS. Footage of the stunt has been sent to the Guinness Book of Records in England to gain Günter another World Record.
