Who: Scooterists from the UK and abroad
What: The first BSRA National Rally of 2016
Where: Whitby, North Yorkshire
Why: Because it’s traditional and great fun
When: Easter weekend – 25th-28th March
An early Easter is always worrying: we could have any type of weather to contend with. Surprisingly though we managed to ride to Whitby in glorious warm sunshine and filtered past millions of disadvantaged car/van/motorhome/caravan drivers and passengers. Schools broke up late for Easter this year so Good Friday was the first day many families could head off to impending traffic chaos and doom – Bad Friday. To be honest, no matter which way you headed to Whitby, traffic was at a standstill for miles. Not to worry though if you rode there 🙂
As usual the harbour town was heaving and pubs were doing a roaring trade, as was the parts fair and custom show on Saturday. We were there early to dish out 300 free t-shirts, kindly sponsored by Lexham Insurance, The Scooter Republic (TSR), Parmakit and rally organisers, VFM. Official rally patch printer, Crusader Promotions printed them at the last minute for us. You can click on the links above to support the people who support us. The shirts were given away on a first-come-first-served basis to people with a ScooterLab sticker on their crash helmet, a way of us rewarding the people who put the word ‘Scooter’ into the British Scooter Riders Association (BSRA).
A weekend of catching up with friends, some fast-forwarding British summertime time-travel and late nights/early mornings meant the weekend was over before we knew it and Storm Katie arrived to blow us all over the Yorkshire Moors on the way home. Thankfully I believe everybody arrived home shaken but relatively unscathed…
