Four Lambrettas were stolen from a pub in South Yorkshire earlier this week, the CCTV footage above shows two of them being wheeled out by the thieves. The most worrying thing about the footage is that it’s obvious the two men are very used to handling scooters. These don’t appear to be a pair of opportunist thieves; more like scooter riders, stealing other scooterists machines.

The theft happened at 5am on Wednesday 26th of April from The Chequers Pub, Whiston, Rotherham, S60 4HB. The owner of the scooters, Jon Thompson is away on holiday celebrating his 50th Birthday and 25th wedding anniversary.
Two men are seen wheeling them out past scaffolding tubes. A white long wheelbase van thought to have been used in the robbery has now been identified and was actually delivering to a nearby nursing home. The thieves did arrive in an unmarked van though. The tallest of the two men appears to be wearing wellington boots so maybe there’s a farming connection, perhaps they were being taken to a farm?

As a “winter model ” and S3 owner im gutted for you, a post on the youtube video of this suggests parts may turn up on Ebay , i cant say ive seen any parts of the quality of these machines would be broken down to, so they would no doubt stand out somewhat me thinks
. auto jumbles /part fairs may be better hunting ground unless they were stolen to order? as two arent the usual run of the mill lambretta models
If London is the main center of thefts of GTS scooters where are the Hotspots for thefts of Classics maybe the LCGB and other scooter owners groups could petition/ Campaign to have lengthy driving bans for vehicle thieves as well as the usual punishments.
i hope “farmboy” and “trainspotter” get caught by the police first before any right minded scooterist catches up with them
