Thanks to everybody who took part in our scooter memorabilia competition and of course to all the people who voted. The competition ended last night and here are the winners…
Crusader Promotions kindly gave us six of their 2017 national scooter rally t-shirts to give away. As it happened we ended up with a runaway leader and a tie for sixth place.
Col from Scarborough won overall with 70 votes for the the ’87 run collection pictured above. Well done to Col.
2nd: Went to the ugly mug of Matty in his original shrunken Mansfield Monsters t-shirt, although he trailed behind Col with just 36 votes.
3rd: Was Spoke, with 32 votes for his hand-drawn Sunday Sport club patch made from an old pair of jeans.
4th: Goes to Nigel Harris for his old Lambretta scarf, depicting a Vespa in proof that the ‘cashing-in on Mods’ by clueless people from outside the scene is not a new phenomenon. We all had one back in the day (well maybe). He got 30 votes for that one.
5th: Was for this iconic ’80s image of Heidi Spindler Maund, sent in by husband Nick from Ital. Heidi got 25 votes.
6th: In joint six, both receiving 24 votes are the Sunday Sport boy band poster and this Mercenary Scooter Club, very topical back in ’84 during the Greenham Common protests.
Great to see some good old-fashioned political incorecctness in a world overrun by do-gooders and the easily offended.
