It’s party time in scooter land. The Bank Holiday looks like being another roaster.

If you are off to the Isle of Wight, going NUTS in Brighton, visiting Venlo or some other scooter-based shindig around the planet, we wish you well and hope to hear about your adventures.

IoW Reporter Competition

Thanks to those of you who answered SLUK’s call for a ‘new face’ to act as our honorary Isle of Wight rally reporter.

The man we’ve chosen for the job is Darren Miles of Plymouth who’ll be there on his ’63 Li. We are arming him with a Sena Prism helmet camera and giving him strict instructions to have a ball at the Isle of Wight rally and to tell us all about it.

We’ve got a selection of other roving photographers on hand too, so if you’ve got something that you think SLUK needs to hear about then let us know in advance and we can try to hook you up.

Scooters - to be ridden, not hidden. Scooters – to be ridden, not hidden.

Ripped-off?

Commiserations to those who’ve lost money on the cancellation of the Great Northern Mod & Ska Festival. Almost all trace of the organisers and their promotion has now been erased from the internet, but you can still track down the parent company – Great Northern Festivals – via Companies House.

Apparently the parent company has folded and they are not offering refunds to those who pre-bought tickets. We suggest you take advice from your bank about whether or not you can claim money back. In most cases you can reclaim from a credit card company for non-delivery of a service, and in some circumstances you can also claim even if you paid by debit card.

Here at SLUK we are advocates of scooterists looking after scooterists. It’s very rare for events organised by scooter clubs or regular BSRA rally promoters such as VFM, or SWSC to be cancelled. In most cases you pay on the gate anyway so there’s nothing to lose.

Support those who put stuff back into the scene, and not those who are only looking to take out. Hopefully you count SLUK as one of the former.

Clubs & Events Directory –

‘SILVER’ LEVEL NOW FREE FOR LIMITED PERIOD!

There has been a recent spurt of interest in our Directory, with many of the UK’s longest-running clubs now setting up camp with their own page on the SLUK site. The Directory allows you to post images, videos and contact information in a searchable format that includes Google navigation.

Following on from that we’ve decided, since the rally season is almost over, to open up our events ‘Silver Level’ Directory as FREE to post on for the next 6 months in order to encourage use.

You can post your event up for FREE whether it is:

  • Rally
  • Club Do
  • Gig
  • Music event
  • Soul night
  • Ride-out
  • Custom Show
  • Parts Fair

You can view how to make a directory listing on the video below. Once you’ve watched the video, click this link to make a Silver level listing for an event. It’s not hard to do if you have access to at least one finger, or possibly a toe, which makes those from Norfolk particularly well-equipped.

Please bear in mind that new listings do not appear instantly on the site because they are held for approval prior to going live. This also applies if you go back to edit your listing after it has been published.

SLUKin Holiday – wahey!

We’ve worked non-stop on SLUK since February, so from this Thursday (25th) until next Wednesday (31st) we are taking a well-earned break.

The site isn’t going anywhere – so feel free to login to read some of our old articles. Don’t expect many new ones in the mean time unless Jesus Christ turns up at Ryde on a 150 Super with a sidecar full of nuns.

If that does happen, you’ll still read about it soon enough on SLUK.
