Knox Brooke ladies jeans
Every rider should have a pair of armoured jeans really, they’re perfect for summer riding and give protection on a par with textiles (better in some ways). You don’t feel quite as trussed up in them as you do in cumbersome textiles and they can still look great on or off the scooter. These new jeans from British company, Knox offer some fancy fibres and clever design elements to make them stand out amongst tough competition.
Ballistic fibres
For starters the Cordura® denim is four times stronger than ordinary denim and the jeans are also lined with Spectra® a fibre used in ballistic vests (amongst other high-end applications). It’s claimed to be 15 times stronger than steel – and steel is known to be quite tough. Some armoured jeans can be uncomfortable to wear thanks to the internal armour pockets and Velcro fasteners, I often und up with holes in my tights from the scratching and chaffing. Knox have sorted that though by using hidden zips on the outside so the armour can be removed easily if you want to wear the jeans off the scooter without looking like you’ve got knobbly knees (not that the Lite armour protrudes much though). The exterior zips mean that putting the armour back in is much easier than trying to do it upside down and inside out like you normally would with internal pockets. The jeans come supplied with Knox Lite Plus knee and hip armour as standard.
Ladies & gents
The jeans are available in two styles, Buxton for men and Brooke for ladies, both come in blue and are styled to look and feel like fashionable jeans rather than bike jeans. Men’s sizes are S-3XL with an inside leg off 33″ and ladies are sizes 8-18 with a 32-inch leg. Remember to consider the seating position with leg length, wear them slightly longer than you usually would in ordinary jeans because they’ll ride up when you sit on a scooter. Knox offer an alteration service if you’re stumpier than the average human though. The jeans retail at around £199.
