Why: A gathering
I had an invite to travel up to the Scottish Highlands last May from the Dead Rabbits SC. This was a gathering rather than a rally. A few people had indicated they may be going so I hastily arranged time off work for a long weekend.
I made arrangements to stay overnight with Skolar in Edinburgh. The journey up there solo on the MP3 was long but uneventful, I really enjoyed the ride on the three-wheeler. It took about nine hours with plenty of stops for fuel and Red Bull!
After a good night in Edinburgh with a few beers and a Skolar breakfast lining the gut, we left mid Friday morning to meet with others at the Green Welly stop over on the way to Glencoe. Here I met Russ , Allan , Karen , Martin and others before the final push to Glencoe. In Scottish tradition the weather wasn’t great, in fact it rained most of the weekend. But that didn’t dampen the spirits.
Only a few turned up that weekend because of the weather, about 25 all in all. A shame because the scenery and riding were breathtaking. The rest of the weekend was hazy, we had a fantastic time and couldn’t of been made more welcome by our Scottish hosts the Dead Rabbits. Big thanks to Paul, Scott and too many new friends to mention.
I managed to ride back to Norwich in 10 hrs from Glencoe on the Sunday. Truly a memorable experience and many new friends made. Highly recommended… Miles equals smiles. Make the effort to travel if you can it’s bloody great.
