More aluminium-based exotica, this time it’s for all you Vespa Smallframe fans. Pinasco have released their new crankcases for the smallie, in two versions, Slave Naked for rotary induction and the Slave X8 for reed valve induction, the latter using an 8-petal reedblock.
Both versions use an 88mm Pinasco crank and also feature larger bearing seats with extra reinforcement on stressed areas. More interestingly the gear clusters can be changed without removing the engine from the frame, or splitting the casings thanks to a ‘Removable gear system.’ Swapping gear ratios is essential for racing applications and this system will make things much easier, simply remove the gold anodised cover and you’re up to your wrists in engine giblets.
No prices have been released yet but keep your eye on your local Pinasco stockist or visit VE (UK).
