New Pinasco Vespa Faro Basso Dell’Orto carb kit | NEWS

As we mentioned last year, Pinasco are working to complete their range of tuning parts for the whole range of classic Vespas, starting in the mists of time with the Faro Basso (Low Light) models, for which they are producing both reed-valve and piston port 160cc cylinder kits as well as crankshafts and gearboxes.

With their range of parts you can now make the oldest ‘Wideframe’ Vespa models practical, safe and fun to ride even in modern traffic conditions. Pinasco are even working on a specific engine casing for these ‘Nonna’ (Grandmother) models.

Faro Basso carb kit

The latest product specifically to fit the Faro Basso is a carb kit. The kit is available as a carburettor and filter unit, both with and without a dedicated inlet manifold. The carb is an oval-bore PHVB Dell’Orto with a 22/24mm bore which has a specific steel lever-top aimed both at optimising the cable run, but also increasing the leverage on the slide so that this bigger carb can be opened with the original handlebar throttle mechanism.

Pinasco has selected a needle and atomiser combination that suits both their reed and piston-port kits, and a small selection of suitable main jets will be included.

The full kit also includes a dedicated air filter which is designed to fit inside the frame with the carb door in normal closed position. The carb features a cable choke configuration.

Pinasco have finalised the specification and expect the kits to go on sale around April 2018. Currently, the recommended retail price is still to be finalised.
