Finding a decent pair of boots for scooter riding is not easy.
All the quick-fitting protective stuff tends to look like you’ve just got off a Superbike and makes you walk like you are wearing ski-boots.
All the trendier-looking stuff lacks real protection, isn’t waterproof or requires laborious lacing which is a pain if you need to quickly don waterproof trousers.
Enter Spada’s Pilgrim Grande boot; part of their 2017 ‘Everywear Collection’ which is essentially practical riding kit designed specifically not to look like bike-wear.
The oil-distressed leather look is extremely hip at the moment but it is not compulsory to own a beard if you wear them. They come in any colour you like as long as you like brown.
Zip not laces
The clever feature of this tough-looking lace-up boot is that you never need to use the laces. They provide the style but to get them on and off you simply undo the zip hidden on the inside ankle and slip your foot in.
In terms of protection the boot is good quality leather with additional thickness over the ankle, heel and toe.
Waterproof
Best of all is that the boot comes with a Hipora breathable waterproof liner making them useful for riding all year round, except for perhaps the height of Summer. But that was last weekend so you are safe for the rest of the year now…
