Non-historic scooters escape London emissions charges, for now... Non-historic scooters escape London emissions charges, for now…

As promised London Mayor Sadiq Khan has moved to bring forward the planned anti-pollution proposals. The latest ‘T-charge’ is a daily £10 fee for older vehicles used weekdays inside the London Low Emission Zone (LEZ) and it will now be introduced from October 23rd 2017.

No charge for motorcycles

The good news, with regards to motorcycles and scooters is that he has not announced any plans to charge, although older tricycles (Pre-Euro-3) subject to the congestion charge will have to pay. However this is a temporary stay of execution; see our EU bans on ‘Dirty Scooters’ article for more on the threat to older scooter use in Europe.
