SLUK reader, Stu Mace sent us this little report and photos from the ‘Scoot De Yorkshire’, a charity ride around Yorkshire in aid of the Air Ambulance, a service funded entirely on donations and one we could all find ourselves in need of at some stage.
Sunday 13th May saw the Sands Complex at Scarborough as the starting point for Scoot De Yorkshire 2018. After last year’s successful ride out from Bridlington to Scarborough, the organisers, Giulio Dukes Armillei & Malcolm (The Lone Centurion) Pearson decided to do this year’s ride out in reverse, Scarborough to Bridlington.

£5 donation
Once we had checked in with Julie Armillei and Michelle Reavley and handed over the £5 Donation we were given a ticket to check in at the halfway stop and the finish, where we collected our souvenir patch. All money raised from the ride out was going to a well worthy cause, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
10 am and we were off, heading for Robin Hood’s Bay, then on to Whitby, before cutting across to Goathland and onto the halfway stop at Pickering where it gave a chance for people to refuel their scooters and themselves. Then we were off again heading for Malton and this is where it went a bit wrong with people getting split up into different groups and taking different routes due to the level crossing barriers coming down and splitting up the group.
Some people have a good sense of direction some don’t (do they Katie), as you can guess I got through the level crossing, Katie didn’t, unbeknown to me and she did an extra 10-mile detour following other lost sheep.
After Malton we headed for Pocklington then onto Driffield, then finally to the finishing point at Bridlington Spa with the wife (Katie) turning up 10 mins later and proceeding to give me a right ear bashing about leaving her (lesson learned dear ).
Total money raised on the day was £372.52
