We’ve been busy bunnies here at ScooterLab, designing and evolving products with Nigel – our resident purveyor of all things ABS.
SLUK support is the latest product, aiming to solve the problem of luggage flopping off narrow racks and ending up burned; a problem that Linsey – Iggy’s better half – knows only too well when her hot pants became a touch too hot on a Gilera exhaust.
Scooterists have been producing rack extensions for the Lambretta Sprint Rack for decades, often from wood or even aluminium. All of these add considerable weight exactly where you don’t want it; behind the back wheel.
By contrast SLUK Support – made from moulded 4mm ABS – is feather light, but still provides a wider load surface and additional fastening points for stabilising your luggage.
It even features two drinks holders for camping escapades.
Quick Release
We aren’t expecting anyone to leave these permanently on their scooter. They are designed to do a job and be removed afterwards, thus we have two different fitting methods as shown in the video.
SLUK Support’s corrugated shape makes it strong. If you pile on enough luggage to break one then you are seriously overloaded.
Versions
Shown in the video is the Vespa GTS version which has been specifically designed to locate onto the standard rack.
We also offer the SLUK Support ‘Sprint’, which is for any flat Sprint Rack like those used on Series 3 Lambrettas. This version will also fit Scomadi racks and other types of Vespa/Lambretta horizontal rack (though the bottle holders were designed for Lambretta angle).
Use of
SLUK Support is designed to keep your luggage central and balanced, but we recommend that all of your main straps connect to the metal of the rack itself wherever possible. Additional holes for bungee hooks, cargo nets or Rok Straps are provided at the end of the Support to further stabilise your luggage.

What are the actual measurements for this – I run a small rack on my GTs – designed to support the top box, and I’m not sure this will fit

Hi Martin, both of the SLUK supports are designed to locate positively on the rack so they won’t work with your rack. It may be possible to use the Lambretta type on your rack but with no positive means of location then I’d recommend at least 4 of the screw type fixings to stop it sliding around. If you’d like to try that, get in touch. We would happily supply extra fixings. Also bear in mind the bottle holders will be at the wrong angle on a flat rack.
