Well folks, here it is. Your chance to find out WTF is going on with SLUK and to give us your feedback on how we are getting on. We’ll be live on here from 8pm – 9pm GMT.
Please remember that this is about where we are going with SLUK and not where we’ve been in the past. We firmly believe that this is the future and by taking the time to be on here I’m sure that you do too.
Now don’t be shy, but also give us a little time to answer. We ain’t the fastest typists in the land.

Hi Slukers… Will you be doing Scooter Rally write ups with photos etc…..
Good evening Proper71, we will be covering most rallies although we hope we’ll get some photos sent in by readers because we can’t be everywhere.
We’ve already got galleries up from a few events and have one to publish from the Olympics do last night.
We have a section called the Rallery coming on-line now. We reckon the old, rode there, broke down, got pissed with my mates, rode home, format needs a kick up the arse so we are going to try some new styles. Video and pictures with captions…
Woo hoo I’m in cheers Linsey , well done on this venture
Do you plan to go to print eventually ??
At the moment no, but the future is open for us. The problem with print is that it’s dying a slow death. Magazine sales across the board fell by 6.5% last year and the bike mags on average fared worse than that. Getting into a dying market doesn’t seem smart at the moment.
Thanks Steve, to be honest the print industry has been in decline for a while and it’s never going to recover. A regular printed SLUK would be financial suicide but we have thought about maybe doing a special print edition as a one-off in the future.
Cheers n good luck for the future
Thanks Steve 🙂
Hey guys, off to a great start so far so well done!
will you be sticking to full framed Lambretta stuff will you be entertaining open framed models too? There seems to be a slight boom in interest for these lovely old machines as well as the Luna line.
Cheers Johnny.
Hello Lambrettista, we’re a multi-scooteral magazine and won’t discriminate against full-bodied, cutdowns, chops, or those older models. If we think it’s worthy of a feature, or there’s an angle in it we’ll be happy to show it.
We are getting people offering us articles all the time. We really want to encourage user participation with SLUK. Funnily enough one of the features we’ll be running as a build log is based around one of the models you mentioned…
That sounds like something you’ve mentioned to me before then sticky. I’ll look forward to that one.
I’m heading down the rlc/casa performance route with one of my lui’s, accumulated all of the parts with exception of a vega carb so far so almost ready for the engine build, very interested to make comparisons against the standard vega set up which is almost complete and should be unveiled at vmsc… Fingers crossed.
Thanks for the reply and all the best.
If it is going to be a show-stopper then let’s find an angle and do something interesting with it. You’ll like what we did with our Underdog Lui when we show you..
Sounds good, the vega should be worthy of a spread once I get the engine back from scoot forever.
The rlc/casa build one however is original paint with the advantage of all of the casa unrated parts for the 50cc casing I’ll be letting scoot forever crack on with that once the vega engine is back.
One of those too many projects on the go at one time moments and that’s just my own stuff here.
What is the best way to choke a french monkey ???
Possibly take him to Hartlepool???
Cheeky
How many different avenues of scooter related tomfoolery will you be covering?
We’ll be exploring many avenues and alleyways, which particular road would you like us to ride down?
We don’t have a map of the area so we’ll probably do all of them while riding around aimlessly…
Evening guys, do you have any plans on doing any how to videos on maintenance / tuning etc for people less experienced or new to the scooter scene. Keep up the good work bye the way.
Happy to stick that one in the suggestions box Richham
We’ve got some top-level video tomfoolery to drop in the future but we are saving it at the moment for a special occasion…
Clearly it is totally different publishing a periodical in real time as each time a subscriber dips in he (or she) hopes and expects to see some thing new.
So far so very good but how do you plan to keep up the pace?
Coffee..lots of coffee
Hello Giallo, we’re hoping for reader interaction to help with the workload and give some real world reviews for people to read. We’re going to be as interactive as possible. We’ve not quite got that right yet though, the login system needs some work as people have complained about not being able to login at times (we’ve had a few messages tonight).
Hi guys – will you be doing tech ” how to ” / spanners guide videos – like an engine rebuild for example?
I made the how-to videos for Casa Lambretta (if you click-through the advert on the top of the Retro homepage, so I know how much work is involved. We might do bite-sized chunks but not a full rebuild in one
Hi lads I’m in! Great to see you up and running.
im planning a build soon, would you be interested in a progress report and some photos?
Absolutely. We’ve done a lot of research in advance and we know that people are interested in seeing projects progress. It’ll serve as an inspiration to others. Very welcome.
Yes LCW, we’ve already got a few folks doing rebuilds and will have a specific section for it. The more the merrier really, it’ll help people to see the hassle involved with a build and how to overcome problems.
Well I for one reckon you Sluksters are a breath of fresh air!!, I’ve been really impressed with the content and imput that’s already gone in to the site…. Just feels right, almost personnel, so long may it continue, and well done to all involved keep on keeping on✊
Thanks Malc, it helps that everybody involved is 100% scooterist. We ride the machines, blow stuff up, enjoy the rallies and events and hopefully that will come across in the features.
How can people best spread the word about SLUK?
The best way is to wear our stickers and t-shirts with pride. Stickers on your crash-helmet or visor will be a key to unlock certain goodies in the future. Dealers will be getting stocks but at the moment they are flying out.
Tell your friends, share our posts and features on social media. Wear our stickers, enjoy what we do and get involved if you can. All help is appreciated 🙂
Talking of real time, this page does not seem to refresh automatically so I am having to hit the button to re-load the page….. is that the way it works OR ARE YOU JUST HIDING IT FROM ME????
No, it works the same for us too…just have to keep refreshing
I’m not sure but we have a geek or two so will find out.
With all the bikes going missing, is there any chance of testing any tracking devices that would work on scoots without batteries and publishing the results?
Yes that is an idea we’ll look into. We’re already testing a tracker on a modern scooter but will do some for classics.
Funnily enough we’ve got something about that lined up for the near future. Datatool have been getting some good success with trackers and have recovered the same GTS stolen twice in a night in London!!!
Problem for classic scooters is that most trackers need a battery or at least regular charging.
Not all though Sticky….
Yes please 🙂
Not refreshing then just dystopian!
I agree. Anyone fancy a pint?
New passtime – post a tracker to yourself.
Most people have a tracker in their pocket these days…
Right folks, that’s a wrap. After a slow start it was a success. Thanks to everyone who took part. We got some useful feedback to work on and you got a bit more interaction than asking questions to a pile of pages.
See you in the pub in 5 minutes…
Great site .so far guys , an interesting concept where . general dogsbody scooterists like myself can possibly do a video or write an article to send in that might get featured, i will have to get my thinking cap on for what contributions i can send i.
