Following last week’s announcement that the final BSRA event of the year would go ahead as a social event, without any official entertainment. The BSRA – British Scooter Riders Association, have taken the very unusual decision to release the 2021 rally dates much earlier than usual this year.
Traditionally they’re released after the Number One’s meeting at the final rally of the year in October but this has been a very unusual year. Acting BSRA Chairman, John Mattison has released the following statement…
What’s new?
One very popular event back on the calendar for 2021 after a two year absence is Cleethorpes, hosted jointly by the Mansfield Monsters and Olympics scooter clubs.
The Welsh National was rumoured to be at Builth Wells, but a last-minute change of date and plans (to avoid a clash with an established charity event) saw a welcome new addition. Aberystwyth was last used in 1990, the quaint seaside town in South Wales has had some money spent on it since we left and is said to be quite an attractive place these days. We’ll look forward to returning there at the end of July.
Fingers crossed 2021 will be a better, healthier and more ‘normal’ season for us all.
Booking accommodation?
As we’ve seen in 2020 things don’t always go to plan. Our advice is if you’re booking accommodation for the rallies, try and book with FREE CANCELLATION. You can use the Booking.com box above.
None of us can guarantee how 2021 will pan out, if we get another winter/spring outbreak of COVID, or if social distancing and the banning of large gatherings is still a problem we may not be able to enjoy the rallies as we once did.
Who are the BSRA?
The BSRA committee is made up of rally organisers, club representatives (LCGB/VCB and other scooter clibs) and scooter media, (including SLUK and ScooterNova) – all road-going scooterists. The various organisers liaise with each other throughout the year to try and generate a calendar of events with a good spread around the country, without clashing dates, or getting too close to other main events – wherever possible.
Since BSRA chairman, Kev Walsh sadly passed away the chairman is changed on a yearly basis.
Why the early date release?
The 2020 calendar has been pretty much doomed to failure by the effects and restrictions associated with COVID-19. Smaller clubs and organisations were already starting to release details for their own 2021 events, so it was decided that the BSRA dates and venues needed to be revealed as soon as possible.

Buzzing about Aberystwyth being on the calendar, Tis about time my home town had another national rally
Aberystwyth
Been a while since I was there last …
Set your sat nav due west Iggy .
The last time I went I got lost up a mountain in the middle of the night on an ever-narrowing road. Got to the top and just came back down again and ran out of fuel. Got picked up by a passing breakdown truck.
And a spare petrol can
I like to live on the edge…
