Have you always fancied a go at scooter racing but the costs have put you off? This new affordable class might just be what you’ve been looking for. The BSSO AGM was held last weekend and a new one make, Scomadi Cup 200 Challenge was voted in as part of the 2018 championship.
Scomadi UK will subsidise the class by providing 20 full race spec Scomadi 200 scooters, complete with the permitted modifications, which include a Stage Four kit, (PM Tuning TFI, variator and exhaust), as well as a full set of spares, an extra set of wheels and tyres, decals, merchandise and a PM Dyno session. The full package is worth £5701.25 but will cost the racers just £3764.75. Not bad value for a brand new ready to race scooter.
Get your name down
The machines will be prepared by Dave Wilson at Retro Tech Racing (creator of these mean, green Scomadi racers) and riders will be able to share the scooter amongst a group of club members/friends if they can’t commit to a full season themselves. As long as the scooter competes in two-thirds of the meetings they’ll get the logbook at the end of the season, meaning they can put the scooter back on the road or sell it on if they wish.

Would you see Chinese state sponsored industrial espionage clones supporting British automotive culture in this way?
I just hope that all those “patriotic” scooterists out there who proudly display Union Flags on the scoots/parkas/flight jackets/tats will walk it like they talk it and support a British venture and put their Sterling into Scomadi rather than the “hoy palloy” [sic] just to save a few hundred quid.
A great way to get racing on a level playing field. If I was living in Britain I’d be seriously considering it. A great idea.
