“Today reopens the future”
That was the message as the 78th International EICMA two wheels exhibition was opened in Milan, a smaller than usual show this year supported by 820 brands and exhibitors from 36 different countries.
Usually around about now we’d be in Italy and heading to the humongous Rho Fiera exhibition centre near Milan, ready for a few frantic very long days at the prestigious EICMA show. Not this year though.
I made an executive decision to sit this year out due to the on-going Covid situation, travel restrictions and hoops we’d have to jump through. Instead we’ll be bringing you news from the show remotely. To keep things fair for the journalists who will be there in person on press day (Tuesday 23rd November) we’ll only bring news today from press releases as they’re put out by the manufacturers. Keep your eye on SLUK for new model news as we get it.
Normal service will be resumed in 2022.

Nothing doing at EiCMA for the classic minded scooterist. Piaggio didn’t even come up with some new go faster stickers. Oh, they did spray an Elettrica red though. Lambretta have not appeared with a pre production G325 as promised 2 years ago. Scomadi are now limited to S.E. Asia it seems, only appearing at the Bangkok motor show. Very bad how this panned out for them…and us. As for that other Lambretta-likey company, well, I will not soil my keyboard by mentioning the name here. All the scooters at EICMA now are to me plastic “Transformers”- designed by children who grew up with morphing robot toys. As the Italians would say “Eleganza perso!” Loads of classic retro styled new bikes though.
