Pinasco have released a new 24/22 carb kit, especially for wide frame Vespa models. The kit includes everything you need for fitting, including a specific air filter which fits perfectly into the frame without the need to modify anything. The Dell’Orto carburettor uses components that are common across their carbs and according to Pinasco it only needs the main jet adjusting to suit your scooter.

Roger Green from vintage Vespa specialist, Wessex Scooters will be getting one to play with next week. Roger told us “The carb fits onto the 24mm inlet manifold used with the Pinasco 160 cylinder kit and can also be used with other Wideframe tuning kits which use the 24mm inlet manifold. The carb includes a specially designed throttle arm which allows full slide travel with the original wideframe handlebar throttle configuration and a slim high-performance air filter which keeps the required gap between the carb compartment door. The mixture can be adjusted easily with the carb mounted due to the location of the mixture screw and the carb resolves the running issues seen at under half throttle experienced with other carbs fitted to tuned Wideframe engines. The carb isn’t suitable as a direct replacement for a standard Wideframe engine, only for kitted 2-port, which includes most Vespas from 1954-58”.
